Environmental Health and Safety support the university's efforts by preparing and protecting faculty, staff and students from adverse events, fostering a safety culture, and meeting regulatory and industry standards. We work closely with academic, research, and campus support organizations to ensure the safest workplace possible.

Laboratory safety applies to all employees or students who work in laboratories with hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive material or environmental hazards. Employees and students are expected to use work practices developed in accordance with this program to prevent harmful exposure or injury while using hazardous chemicals. 

The Laboratory Safety Team is customer service oriented and is available to support the research and teaching community by believing that “good science is safe science” and is dedicated to supporting the university and finding pragmatic solutions to mitigate lab hazard risks.
